Paul begs us in his letter to be RENEWED (Romans 12:1,2) Verse 2 in the amplified says, “Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. “
When we come to Christ and accept Him as Lord and Savior; then, we have recognized we needed saving! We recognized we need Him to be LORD over us. We are not good – our thoughts and our ways only led us to (not only eternal death) but, pain, trouble, and fear here on earth. Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. God wants to lead and direct us to LIFE in every area. Romans 8:6 – “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace”. So then, (Romans 12:1,2) you can be changed! By renewing your mind!
We have to put off the old things we did, and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge (we have to learn how to be) in the image of its Creator. (Colossians 3:10) We were created in His image and His likeness. Do you look like Him?
Now, it is you who must renew your mind. No one can renew your mind but you! You make a “decisive dedication” of your bodies as a living sacrifice – devoted to and pleasing God! What pleases God? Our obedience to Him – showing our love for and gratitude to HIM!
We must set our minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Whatsoever things that are true, honest, fair, pure, lovely, of good report, if there be any goodness, if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8) Exercising your mind!!
Also, do not give up the habit of meeting together; as there are some who feel they don't need to worship and learn together. Instead, let us encourage one another even more, since we see that the Day of the LORD is coming nearer. (Hebrews 10:25 GNV)
